Gelatin is the ultimate anti-aging solution. If you don’t know already, Gelatin is surprisingly a very healthy ingredient for your skin, hair, nails, stomach, bones, and body. It is derived from collagen. It’s 98-99% protein and is made by cooking collagen and has numerous health benefits.

What is Gelatin?

Gelatin is a translucent, flavorless substance obtained from the bones and connective tissues of animals in order to obtain collagen. Collagen is a fibrous insoluble protein that is beneficial in maintaining the skin’s elasticity and youth. It is derived by the process of selective hydrolysis from the animal’s skin and bones. After being extracted it is powdered and then it is dissolved in hot liquids which solidifies once it cools down. Gelatin is loaded with half of the 18 amino acids needed by our body for surviving, hence a superfood.

In ancient times when animals were the only source of food other than plants people used as much of the animals as possible. It might sound gross to some people but the organs were consumed as meats and the bones were coked as broths. Until recently when to moved to just eating muscle meats we bailed out on all the important nourishment that the rest of the animal can provide.

According to recent studies, gelatin can improve the appearance of skin and hair. It helps to strengthen your skin and removes impurities. The best part is that you can easily make gelatin face masks for wrinkles at home.
